ABOUT THE POSITION
Performs paraprofessional accounting work including compiling data, processes journals and other files into the financial system, performs reconciliations, and processes month-end and year-end closes.
Selection Process:
Applicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of the position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include a panel interview. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include:
- Fingerprinting
- Criminal Background screening for the past 7 years
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
- Two years' recent experience working with general ledger systems and related subsidiary systems, (i.e. accounts receivable, accounts payable).
- One year of recent customer service or public contact experience.
- Preferred: Government experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Develops system, security and process controls to ensure data is accurate; verifies controls for accuracy; schedules and initiates running of computerized accounting & budget jobs; coordinates computer system access and terminal security; creates written documentation for systems and procedures.
- Maintains the accuracy and integrity of financial systems and performs periodic reviews and updates accordingly.
- Performs paraprofessional accounting work including compiling data, processes journals and other files into the financial system, performs reconciliations, and processes month-end and year-end closes.
- Maintains an extensive financial database and provides complex calculations and computerized reports for internal (accounting & budget) and external use, including all state and federal agencies.
- Prepares, maintains and reconciles various databases and financial information for analytical and reporting purposes; monitors and evaluates the accuracy and timeliness of data input and output.
- Assembles, edits, and publishes reports utilizing publishing software.
- Greets visitors, responds to telephone inquiries, and directs inquiries to appropriate staff.
- Provides administrative assistance to staff members in the Charter Officer's Office.
