Job Description:
Job Summary: This position assists in the operation of a large and complex surplus property and inventory control unit located on the main campus of LSU, and providing shared services to the Agricultural Center. The inventory has a book value in excess of $450,000,000 and 75,000 assets in over 200 buildings and farm or laboratory research units.
Job Responsibilities:
40%-Picks up all types of moveable property from sites on and off campus. Ensures only items listed on transfer are picked up. Makes determination of which items will be taken directly to LPAA and which ones will be brought to LSU surplus warehouse. Receives surplus property into the surplus warehouse. Stores property in a neat and orderly fashion for viewing by departments and Louisiana Property Assistance Agency (LPAA) officials. Delivers surplus items to LPAA as needed.
35%-Drives departmental trucks, including a 1-ton pickup truck with hydraulic lift gate and an 18-foot box truck (Class 6) with hydraulic lift gate. Strategically plans and executes loading of the trucks in consideration of types and quantities of equipment, number of stops before unloading, and whether load has multiple destinations. Operates stairclimber dolly in buildings or situations where use of an elevator is not possible. Occasionally operates forklift.
20%-Assists in coordinating the transfer of equipment to LPAA or for redistribution to campus departments. Marks assets with tags that include inventory number, transfer number, or redistribution record of department. Exhibits ability to recognize equipment that may exceed the state tagging threshold, and thus should be tagged. Works to identify inventoried assets that are missing the “Property of LSU” tag by cross checking the serial number in the database to find an LSU inventory number.
5%- Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications: One year of experience in mobile equipment operations. Test score not required.

Special or Physical Qualifications: Excellent communication & organizational skills. Physical ability & eye-hand coordination necessary to use a computer terminal, office equipment; ability to drive a vehicle and walk moderate distances on campus and up/down stairs. Ability to bend down when removing assets from locations. Ability to lift up 50-75 pounds (regularly).
